The Marble Offcut Table series was developed in response to the significant waste generated during marble processing — with up to 30% of quarried stone discarded due to irregular shape or size. Rather than sourcing new stone, we collected broken slabs and offcuts from local marble yards near our South East London workshop, with support from suppliers such as London Marble Ltd in Catford.

Each salvaged marble piece was paired with a custom-welded steel subframe, designed to support its unique shape without the need for additional machining. Recycled steel was chosen for its structural reliability and high recovery rate — over 90% of steel by-products can be reused, making it a practical, lower-impact alternative for this application.

The result is a series of one-off tables that celebrate material imperfection, reduce waste, and avoid the energy-intensive processes often associated with stone fabrication.
