DETAILING, DESIGN, CONSULTANCY & BUILD

Year
2023

We were invited to collaborate with designer and maker David Ross on the full refurbishment and extension of his 1950s home in Dalston. Working closely with David and his partner Alisha from early concept design through to completion, the project was a true joint effort across design and construction.

David brought an initial SketchUp model, engineer’s drawings, and a clear vision for key materials and finishes — along with an exceptional attention to detail. Together with WAJ Studio and the client, we resolved construction details, refined junctions, and streamlined both process and budget without compromising design integrity.

As with all our projects, adaptability, sustainability, and long-term use were central. The resulting home is a clean, carefully detailed space designed to accommodate change over time. The rear garden was intentionally left to rewild, allowing the landscape and use of the house to evolve naturally post-occupancy.

Our role was to provide a robust, flexible framework — one that gave David and Alisha the freedom to inhabit and shape their home on their own terms.
